ABOUT

Where does  argan comes from?

Argan oil is a vegetable oil, it is also called dry oil, because it deeply moisturizes without leaving an oily effect. Argan oil is the richest in vitamin E in combination with vitamin A, essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Its properties give it several uses in the medical and cosmetic fields.

The argan tree is a tree that only exists in the southwest of Morocco, and argan oil comes from the pits of the fruit of this tree. Indeed, the latter are extremely hard – seven times more than a hazelnut – and contain one, sometimes two or three, small almonds, rich in oil.

Extraction of argan oil

  1. The pulping of the fruit by hand, the women lightly crush the fruit against a stone which serves as a support, then they separate the pulp from the nut.

  2. The crushing of the nuts by hand to extract the almonds: This is the second stage and the most painful, it is carried out between two stones, one is used as a support and the other as a hammer.

  3. Sorting almonds to remove those that are unsuitable for oil production.

  4. Crushing: the almonds are crushed using a stone grinder. The extracted paste is then accumulated in a pottery container for kneading.

  5. Mixing the dough: it is done manually with the addition of a small amount of warm water to have a viscous dough called "Tazguemmoute".

  6. Pressing the paste: The last step in the traditional process is to release the oil by manually pressing the resulting paste.

A word from  our founder

"I grew up in the south of Morocco, in the middle of the argan trees. Me and all the Berber women used to utilise argan oil for almost all of our beauty needs, skin and hair care.

When I came to settle in Canada a few years ago, I discovered that this miraculous oil was unknown: most people are unaware of its cosmetic and pharmaceutical virtues. It was at this moment that I felt that my mission had to begin and I decided to share this richness with all of you who are reading me now."
